Update #2 - "You start reaching for her sword." | Future
Hello!
First of all, I'd like to start off thanking @HoplitePlays and @@dutransan (on Twitter) for testing this project. When the demo first launched, they immediately (without me asking) started reporting bugs and were really excited for the project. The demo would have never come out of the broken launch state if not for them. <3
UPDATE NOTES.
A new update was released today!
- Guitarist room now has "Loading" when you hit the cutscene activator.
- Made Gusion deal more damage during 1st boss phase.
- Further out of bounds/teleportation issues
- It now should be impossible for Gusion to escape this world. Fitting how a lore page talks about her almost giving up escaping from her home. Tuned the room switches.
- "Checkpoints" in case of crash.
- Making a save system for a game takes time and as of yet my brain isn't quite there yet. I'm a one person team. So, after a crash/or just taking a break you can now teleport ahead from the main menu. When there, use number buttons (ones above qwerty, not numpad. There are people who don't believe in numpads)
- 1 - Go to the tomb (past the first cutscene)
- 2 - Go to the 4 Ghost Room (past guitarist cutscene)
- 3 - Go to the Statue room.
- 4 - Go to post boss (read more on this below.)

BOON OF RAGANA
As you traverse through the demo, you will find something called a Boon of Ragana.
I am not the greatest at designing boss battles, but I'm always up for learning. Currently, the boss battle - while doable - is unbalanced. It's part of the struggle of balancing the lore strength of the boss (took many Giants just to fell one back then) and make it a fun fight.
I also want this primarily be a story game. Even if I make the boss fair and balanced I want people to experience the whole story regardless of their skill. It's a story where I talk about my friend.
Boon of Ragana allows you to skip the boss battle, at any point. There are three phases of the boss. There is a sword in Giltine's realm, and there is a sword right next to the boss. Instructions on how to use this power are given when you interact with the dialogue droplet. There is no wrong or right choice here.
FUTURE.
My dream is to be able to make this into a full game (or, chapter based games). I feel like I outlined the main loop of the game pretty well in the demo, but the core structure of each level in the full game is as follows (past the prologue)
- Conversation with Eligos
- A tomb/castle/a realm with ghosts and their own respective story puzzles (such as Arthur), more hints to what happened to the world, more tales about the Beleth and what they are., cool cutscenes.
- Encounter with a prominent figure in this mythology (Laima's daughter, in this case)
- Boss fight
- Back to camp, you get to know Eligos a bit better and things start to fall into place.
Of course things will vary and change and the levels will be different, with puzzles and unlockables, but that's my general road right now.
Final thoughts.
I most frequently post updates on twitter. Thank you so much to everyone who has downloaded and enjoyed the demo so far. Hopefully this update will let even more people experience it. I am working on a better way to update the game for convenience sake.
